Regular maintenance keeps your refrigerator running efficiently and extends its lifespan.

Monthly Tasks

Clean Door Gaskets Wipe gaskets with warm, soapy water. Remove any debris that prevents a good seal. Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to keep rubber supple.

Check Temperature Use a refrigerator thermometer to verify 37-40°F in the fridge and 0°F in the freezer.

Clean Interior Wipe up spills promptly. Do a thorough cleaning monthly to prevent odors and bacteria.

Quarterly Tasks

Clean Condenser Coils This is the most important maintenance task. Dirty coils make your refrigerator work harder and fail sooner.

Location: Under (behind toe grille), behind, or on top depending on model. Method: Use a coil brush and vacuum.

Clean Drip Pan Located underneath, this pan can grow mold. Remove, clean with bleach solution, and replace.

Every 6 Months

Replace Water Filter Reduces contaminants in ice and water. Follow manufacturer recommendations.

Check Door Seals Test with the dollar bill method. Replace if seals are cracked, torn, or don't grip.

Annual Professional Service

Consider annual professional maintenance for: - Comprehensive coil cleaning - Refrigerant level check - Electrical connection inspection - Thermostat calibration - Early problem detection
